Winnifred came into my life on May 6, 2023. She was an 8 week old rescue from the Society of Humane Friends, where she and her mother/siblings were abandoned on 3/14…also known in my family as Pi Day. Originally named Turtle Pie, her siblings were Chocolate Pie, Chicken Pot Pie, Lemon Meringue Pie and Pumpkin Pie.
Being a staunch lover of turtles, Pi Day and pie, the adoption was serendipitous.
Winnie’s DNA test shows that she is a ‘Staffie-Poo’....
a mixture of American Staffordshire Terrier, Poodle, Schnauzer, Chihuahua and Chow Chow.
Her fun-loving personality and playfulness makes her a perfect therapy dog. She and I are active members of the Atlanta Obedience Club: she has passed two levels of Puppy Training classes and we are in the process of working towards her Therapy Dog Certification.
Clients find warmth and comfort in her…whether sitting next to her on the couch and petting her ridiculously fluffy ears…
or playing fetch in the backyard.
